Opening Screen: D’cisions: 4 Real?

The first screen displays three different scenes separating the image in thirds: a young African American woman smiling and looking at her cell phone on the left side, a close up of her hand holding her pink cell phone in the middle, and the same woman looking upset, on the right.

Cut to Sara, a young woman with long blond hair, wearing a white shirt, red scarf, and glasses sits in a café holding a cell phone and looking lost in thought; a large coffee cup is on the table in front of her.

Sara puts her head in her hands, her elbows on the table, her cell phone on the table next to her. Sara appears to be thinking about something that may be troubling her.

Sara picks up the cell phone and continues to stare at it, a pop-up bubble appears.  Sara thinks “I gotta tell her.”

Cut to Monica on the upper left side of the screen, a young African American woman with short curly hair wearing jeans, a white shirt, and a denim jacket, walking down a tree-lined street, passing several pedestrians. A transparent image of Sara in the café remains in the background.

A voice-over says: “It’s a bright sunny day and Monica is out shopping for a prom dress.”

Monica’s pink cell phone beeps as she continues walking down the street, and a pop-up bubble appears “It’s my girl Sara.” Monica says to herself.

The focus shifts and zooms in on Monica’s pink cell phone.  Then the screen divides diagonally so that Monica’s cell phone is on the lower left, and Sara, still in the café staring at her phone, is on the upper right half.

Monica sends Sara a text message, which appears as a window onscreen “What’s up?”

Sara’s phone beeps and her response appears in a window onscreen: “got bad news”

Monica’s cell phone beeps and the shot pulls back from her cell phone until there are four images of Monica, in four separate vertical panels on the screen; From left to right the images show Monica walking down a city block, taking her cell phone out of her pocket, looking at her phone, and reading her text message.

Monica thinks to herself   “4 real?” as a thought bubble pops up and she reads the text.

Cut to close up of Monica’s pink phone, the screen has Sara’s message: “Kim has HIV”

The image of Monica in front of the prom dress store spins off to the right and another image, a close up of her face in profile looking upset, spins in from the left.

A pop-up bubble appears above Monica and she thinks: “I can’t believe she has HIV…”

The image of Monica shrinks down to the lower left-hand corner of the screen and three more transparent panels appear in the background creating a larger image of her from the waist up, holding her cell phone.

A pop-up bubble appears above Monica. She thinks: “Why is this happening to her?  I don’t understand.”

The four panes flip around to reveal a new set of images, a streetscape in the upper right, Monica’s face in the upper left, her feet on the sidewalk in the lower right, and her body in the lower left.

A clear image of Monica appears in the lower left with the other three images remaining transparent.  A pop-up bubble appears.  Monica thinks: “All she did was have a little fun. We all party sometimes.”  A video of a party appears in the upper right hand pane, and zooms in on Kim, a young dark-haired woman drinking from a red plastic cup.

The screen goes black and then fades in to Monica’s shadow, one hand on top of her head, in front of a store window displaying three prom dresses.  Monica’s shadow fades out leaving the prom dresses, which also fade out, in three panes.  Cut to Monica walking down the same street.

A pop-up bubble appears over Monica’s head.  “Will she even go to the prom?” Monica wonders.

Cut to Monica, standing on a street with several parked cars, a pedestrian is behind her. She is still holding her cell phone and her thumbs are hooked on her belt.  A pop-up bubble appears next to her and she thinks:  “How is this going to change her life?”

Shot goes extreme close-up to Monica’s white shirt until the screen is entirely white.

Fade in to Monica in profile standing on the same street.  A pop-up bubble appears over her head.  “I never thought this would happen to someone I know.”

The shot moves in for a slight close-up on Monica.  A pop-up bubble appears over her head:  “I wish I knew how to help her...”

Shift shot to Monica’s face, some trees are in the background.  A pop-up bubble appears:  “I wonder if she’s told her parents?”

Screen shifts to 6 panels, only two are completely visible.  On the left is Monica facing the viewer, and on the right she is in profile.  The screen shifts so that the image of Monica facing the viewer is full-screen and a pop-up bubble appears above her head and to the left:  “How did she get HIV?”  Monica wonders to herself.

The image of Monica shrinks back so that it sits in the middle of a white screen.  A pop-up bubble appears outside of her frame and she wonders: “Could I have HIV?”

The white screen fades out and then fades back in amber.  A profile of Monica fades in on the right side, and an image of her reading a text message on her cell phone fades in to the left of that image.

Pop-up squares appear, and the voice over asks:
“Can Monica help Kim?”
“Does she figure out who gave Kim HIV?”

An image of Monica’s hand, holding her pink cell phone fades in.
A pop-up square appears:
“Will Kim make it to the prom?”

The screen fades out and fades in to the D’cisions logo and credits.  Credits fade out and
